The Avengers (2012) Height Chart in Centimeters! by D-AMJ-C The Avengers (2012) Height Chart in Centimeters! by D-AMJ-C
Well don't I feel stupid. I forgot that most of the world measures height in meters and centimeters while here in the United States we're stuck on that whole silly feet and inches thing. And so in the spirit of the U.S.A. vs. The Rest of the Planet, I re-did the Avengers Height Chart in centimeters. Please note that I rounded numbers off the same way I did with the half inches in the feet/inches chart -- .5+ rounded up, .4- rounded down.

Avengers Height Chart in Feet/Inches = [link]

Considering how people shrunk about 3 cms (last I heard) during days, by the end of the day I'm the height of Clint's. xD And my dad is around Loki and Thor... So let's say, they are not small... (Well, duh.)

Thanks for doing this i know that lots of people in the UK now use inches but i was taught from a very young age to use centimetres as Im sure its hard for you to use this system ;D
but as most of my friends use inches I'm left being given odd looks when I announced that I'm 158cm compared to there 5'6

I'm so annoyed by these "uke/seme" conventions that have come over from boy love comics and doujinshi in Japan and have infiltrated Western 'shipping.' I'm assuming people ignore the blindingly obvious fact that Loki is much taller than MOST EVERYONE and that Tony is actually short, to make Loki the same height or shorter because he's being the bottom.

I don't know what "uke/seme" conventions are, nor "boy love comics" &/or "doujinshi in Japan" are. I could ask my mom since she's Japanese but since she lives here in the States with me she might have to call HER mom (lived in Tokyo her whole life) to find out.

I have just recently learned the word "shipping"; when I created a DA account I noted it ALL over the place so I googled it & found it adorable! For all the fancy or slang wording there is when describing the relationships between 2 people, be they 2 men, 2 women or a man & a woman, they are ALL just relationships. Some are serious, some are simple & flirtatious but with no depth, some are completely sexual, some are somewhat deviant in nature, some monogamous, some so open it's hard to see who plus whom is the actual "couple". But in the end, no matter what you call it, it's a RELATIONSHIP. This "bottoming" & "topping" junk, etc. = whatever. I call it sex. Some prefer penetrating while other penetration & sometimes switching it around a bit. Oh well.

I really believe that when an artist draws 2 known characters, based off real actors, & they make some glaring mistakes, it is often just that, a mistake. Height is very easy to make a mistake on when in movies it's sometimes so difficult to tell who is taller, what with forced perspective & the needing to have characters speak face to face & not face to chest, or... for example: The role call scene between Tony & Loki in Stark Tower in Avengers. Tony is giving a powerful speech to Loki about damn well avenging the earth. Now if they were face-to-face just standing floor level, Tony's serious & powerful speech wouldn't seem so, intimidating with him stretching his neck to look UPWARD at Loki now would it? Right.

I also think that some artists are concentrating so much on precise detail of face or costume, that they forget things like perspective & height completely. For these reasons I've shared this chart to, you know, kind of remind in the back of their mind the next time they get down to drawing or painting.

And I'm quite used to being called tall. It's the people in the middle who aren't judged by their height as much I suppose.

I don't think that being taller than any particular movie star should be a (even if momentarily) deciding factor on brief happiness. You will be the perfect height for many things & "not tall enough" for many more. Then again, there will also be times you aren't "short enough". That is how it is. Do you think Mr. Hiddleston would have gotten the part of Loki had he been a dozen or more cm shorter than he is now? Or how about a giant Black Widow? I believe part of her appeal is that she is so petite yet packs the punch of someone 3 times her size.

The next time someone calls you short, tell them, "Yeah, I'm short, so you better watch out 'cause you'll never see me coming when I bite the shit out of your ankles!"

Good to have this too, thank you, ;) even though I used the net convertors to get their height in centimeters already, as I too use the metric system. The inch one baffles me to no end as long as it's not my own. :zombie:

Ah! See, good move! Yeah, I have that online converter bookmarked for whenever I run into something that's metric. I still haven't figured out what it means when someone's weight is referred to as "stone". Seriously, I've researched it & all I can find is, "So & so is 3 stone!" or "Can you believe they dropped 1 whole stone?" I mean, WTF, yo?! STONE?! In my mind I'm thinking of a boulder & they're somehow comparing people to a large rock but I really have no clue. Anyhow, I kind of went off on a tangent there. Thanks for the lovely comment! Cheers!

:D Oh, that's because in the past the weighing scales were balanced with stones of different weighs, so that 'stone' as a weight unit must have some standard weight. We too still have here in the markets scales with plates on which the goods are balanced with different weights, though made of metal, not stones, ranging from 100 or 200 grams to 1-2 kilos.

Whaaaaaat?? A scale with WEIGHTS on it?! What, do you not use electricity yet where you live?

& to me, "kilos" is a term you use when you're talking about the amount of cocaine being measured out.

Hahaha, of course we have electricity, though we do have, up in the mountains, people who chose to live without it and they're doing it quite well. But in the market you can still see the scales with weights, they're not at all uncommon. And for us kilos is just an abbreviation from kilograms. Thankfully, cocaine is not that usual here.

I'm glad you understood my comment as a joke, I worried a little bit after saying it. Where you live sounds delightful & a bit quaint though I'm sure it's large enough as far as the city goes & number of inhabitants. When you say market, do you mean the grocery store? At the store we have scales that are non-digital, pressurized that is, but no weights.

Eh, coke isn't really a problem, I think meth is much bigger, but I really only hear the word kilo in reference to drugs. It's just not used outside of science that much.

Yep, no worries, I do have a good sense of humor. ;) And well, market here is not quite the same as grocery store. There are those too, but there are also markets in open air, or maybe with only some covers for rain and stuff. Only in the last years mayoralties started to build some halls in which people coming to sell their stuff would be protected from the elements, but still open markets do exist and people there usually display a mixture of old and new, so you can see electronic scales next to these old ones with weights that are not at all an uncommon sight.

And the abbreviations of measurement units are daily speech here; any of us at the market would say "give me please two kilos of potatoes" instead of kilograms. Even in my language the pronunciation is very similar to the English one, as in kile for kilos and kilograme for kilograms.

Hm. I've visited open air markets in different parts of the world. If there are any here in the States, they're not in Arizona! Ha ha ha ha! I don't know if you know anything about AZ but we get about half an inch of rain a year, 6 months of the year are summer with 80 - 90 degree temps but usually 3 of those months are 100 degrees to 112 degrees. It's hot here. We are the skin cancer capital in the US. Homeless people die from heat exhaustion. Now, when it comes to WINTER, like it just started cooling down maybe 2 or 3 days ago, is awesome. It's freakin' 74 degrees outside right now! It was in the 60's at 7:00am this morning; I had to wear a sweater! So it's nice. We get visitors called "snow birds", that's the (usually) older people who live in states that get snow & freezing temps who move to AZ for the winter. To me they look crazy out on the golf courses wearing shorts & T-shirts when it's only 75 degrees outside! But to them it's "warm" out. !!!

No, we don't have those kinds of markets here, @ least not in AZ. The kinds where you actually TELL SOMEONE to give you a product. Here you have to get it your damn self!

BTW, what is your native language?

Ah! Well good for everyone! I guess I should have made a chart with both measurements in it in the first place but I originally made it for myself and therefore only used feet/inches. After spending so much time online trying to find the proper images to use, I noticed a LOT of shipper images where the heights were so very, very wrong. Like, blatantly, obviously wrong. That was when I decided to share.

Thank you for the lovely comment! Cheers!
